I can't even begin to even try to guess how many spools of ribbon I have accumulated over the course of a year and a half. Thousands? Tens of thousands? I really don't know. All I do know is that it was very close to taking over my life. I'm not even kidding.
When I first started I had one of those tall bookshelves full of all the ribbon I had. Then, that wasn't enough room, so I got another book shelf...and well. That wasn't enough room, either.
Now we have actual-for real-shelving put up covering one whole wall...
They go eight feet across. I can get three spools of ribbon lined deep...like this:
This system works beautifully for me. As you can see, I have it some-what organized by color and/or theme. It made more sense to me to go vertically since there's so much. I can see everything I have and it stays pretty well organized. About once every two weeks I'll go and make sure that ribbon is where it should be, etc and that we don't have things out of place. I love how efficient this is!
This isn't all of it, tho. I have my fall, Halloween, Christmas, Valentine's Day, Easter, and St Paddy's day ribbon all tucked away in the storage unit I recently had to rent. It's also stuffed in two dressers inside what I call the "overflow room".
It's been great being able to craft, literally, what I want and when I want. I never dreamed I could do this on a professional level, yet, here I am. Words can't describe how happy I am to be doing something I love. It's been a learning experience I wouldn't trade for the world.
